Grayscale Files to Rename Litecoin Trust as an ETF: LTC’s Next Phase Begins
Grayscale has taken another step toward turning its Litecoin Trust into a full ETF. The firm has filed an amended S-3 registration statement with the SEC
The filing proposes renaming the trust the “Grayscale Litecoin Trust ETF.” Shares would list on NYSE Arca under the existing ticker LTCN.

What the Filing Actually Says
The amendment updates Registration No. 333-290130. It was submitted as Amendment No. 1 to a Form S-3 first filed in 2025.
The filing details the Trust’s structure and its plan to list on NYSE Arca once approved.
NYSE Arca applied to list the shares back in January 2025. That application still needs SEC sign-off.
Once approved, shares would trade in baskets of 10,000. Each share would represent a fractional stake in the Trust’s Litecoin holdings.
Grayscale Isn’t First to This Trade
Canary Capital already runs a live spot Litecoin ETF on Nasdaq under the ticker LTCC. That product proves the SEC will approve Litecoin ETFs. But approval doesn’t guarantee demand.
TRX’s ETF debut showed a strong first-day signal that’s hard to ignore, a reminder that altcoin ETFs can draw real capital. Not every launch goes that way.
Bitwise recently shut down its DOGE ETF after demand failed to show up. That contrast matters for LTCN.
A rename and NYSE Arca listing fixes the Trust’s structure. It does not guarantee new buyers show up.
Price and Trust Size Tell Two Stories
LTC traded at $54.91 as of 17:14 UTC on September 13, 2026, up 1.3% over seven days, per CoinGecko.
The chart shows a sharp spike above $58 on September 8, followed by a pullback and a slow climb back toward $55. That price action looks calm compared to the filing news.

The Trust’s financial statements show net assets fell to $82.3 million as of June 30, 2026, down from $175.9 million a year earlier.
What This Means Going Forward
The conversion would give LTCN creation and redemption mechanisms. That should close the gap between share price and Litecoin’s actual value.
Approval looks likely given the pattern set by Bitcoin and Ethereum trust conversions.
The real test will come after listing, when flows either confirm fresh institutional demand or reveal that this move mostly helps existing holders exit at fair value.
