XRP Joins Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in a Major U.S. Listing Framework

XRP is trading at $1.36, down 6.0% over the past seven days. While the short-term price action remains soft, a significant regulatory development has placed the token in an exclusive company.

The Federal Register notice names XRP alongside Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana as an eligible commodity under the relevant Commodity-Based Trust Shares framework.

A Notable Inclusion

In a notice published on September 9, 2026, the Federal Register referenced Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and XRP as assets that presently qualify as eligible commodities under Nasdaq Texas Rule 5711(d).

The context involves Commodity-Based Trust Shares and the criteria for listing on exchanges, including rules around net asset value composition and eligibility for the Generic Listing Standards.

The explicit grouping of XRP with three of the market’s most established digital assets marks a meaningful development in how the token fits within this U.S. exchange-listing framework.

The notice specifically states that all four assets presently qualify under the relevant eligibility criteria.

This development adds to the broader regulatory story surrounding XRP. Techgaged has previously covered XRP’s changing regulatory landscape and its potential implications for institutional adoption, providing further context for why regulatory developments remain important to the token.

Price Action Diverges From the News

The seven-day chart shows XRP under steady pressure. After starting the period near $1.46–$1.47, the token has drifted lower, breaking below $1.40 and settling at the current $1.36 level.

The decline has been gradual rather than sharp, but it leaves price testing recent lows even as the regulatory mention surfaces.

This disconnect between a constructive structural development and near-term selling is not unusual in crypto markets, where price often reacts with a lag to regulatory or institutional signals.

Techgaged has also examined XRP’s institutional positioning and the growing role of regulated investment products, adding another layer to the broader adoption picture.

Why the Classification Matters

Being named alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana in official listing-related language reduces ambiguity around XRP’s status within this specific framework.

The Federal Register notice says these four assets qualify under the relevant Commodity-Based Trust Shares eligibility requirements, while the broader rule change allows certain trusts to use a 15% buffer for other digital commodities that do not meet those criteria.

Clearer eligibility under an established listing framework could lower barriers for products that meet the applicable standards and may support broader institutional comfort over time.

It does not by itself guarantee new XRP ETFs or immediate capital inflows, but it places XRP inside a smaller group of digital assets explicitly recognized as eligible commodities under these listing standards.
