A National Digital Identity System Is Now Using Avalanche — The Scale Is Huge
The UAE is putting its national digital identity system on Avalanche. UAE PASS, the country’s ID platform, serves more than 12 million people.
Its Digital Vault now runs on a dedicated Avalanche L1, according to the blockchain network itself.
What Avalanche Announced
Avalanche posted the news on its official X account on September 14, 2026. UAE PASS lets citizens, residents, and visitors verify their identity, sign documents, and access government and private services.
The platform connects more than 350 entities and over 15,000 services. Avalanche says document verification will drop from days to minutes once the migration is complete.

The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority is working with advisory firm Deca4 on the rollout.
Part of a Bigger Institutional Push
This kind of government-scale blockchain deployment fits a pattern playing out across traditional finance too.
JPMorgan filed to launch a tokenized Treasury fund on Ethereum earlier this year, targeting stablecoin reserves and on-chain settlement.
Wall Street and national governments are converging on the same idea. Both see blockchain rails as infrastructure, not speculation.
Not Yet Independently Confirmed
TDRA has not put out its own statement naming Avalanche specifically. Its public UAE PASS materials describe the Digital Vault as blockchain-powered without naming a protocol.
Right now, Avalanche’s own post remains the only primary source for the claim. There is a real precedent for projects like this working out.
California’s DMV digitized 42 million vehicle titles on a dedicated Avalanche chain in 2024, cutting title transfers from two weeks to minutes.
Price Hasn’t Caught Up to the News
AVAX traded at $7.47 as of 11:36 UTC on September 15, 2026, down 7.1% over seven days, per CoinGecko.
The chart shows a steady slide from near $8.00 on September 9 down toward $7.40, with a brief spike above $7.70 on September 15 that faded quickly.

The announcement gave AVAX only a modest bump, nowhere near enough to offset the week’s broader decline.
What This Means Going Forward
JPMorgan has projected tokenized real-world assets could grow into a $13 trillion market by 2030. A national government putting identity infrastructure on Avalanche, even without full confirmation yet, fits squarely into that trajectory.
If TDRA confirms the integration formally, it would stand as one of the largest real-world blockchain deployments to date.
