Trump Says He Will Sign CLARITY Act “Immediately”

In Brief

  • • Donald Trump says he would sign the CLARITY Act “immediately.”
  • • Bill still stalled in the Senate with no clear timeline.
  • • Highlights gap between political support and legislative progress.

U.S. President Donald Trump told a room of top memecoin holders that he would sign the CLARITY Act “immediately” if it reaches his desk, but offered little new detail on how or when the stalled crypto bill will move forward. The remarks came during a 45-minute speech covering crypto and geopolitics. The legislation remains stuck in the Senate with no clear timeline.

Trump signals support but offers no timeline

Specifically, Trump delivered the comments during a private event attended by major holders of his associated memecoin project. According to reports from inside the room, the speech included wide-ranging topics, from the Iran conflict to criticism of Joe Biden, alongside general commentary on crypto.

On the CLARITY Act specifically, Trump reiterated his support but did not outline any new developments. Industry participants had expected more concrete signals around the bill’s progress, especially given its prolonged delay in the Senate.

CLARITY Act remains stalled

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act has been under discussion for months, aiming for a clearer regulatory framework for crypto in the U.S. The proposal would divide oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), while addressing issues around stablecoins and market structure.

Despite passing the House, the bill has struggled to advance in the Senate, where disagreements over key provisions have slowed progress. With midterm elections approaching, the window for passing major legislation is narrowing.

Trump’s comments reinforce political support for the bill at the executive level, but they also highlight the gap between endorsement and actual legislative movement.

For now, even with backing from the White House, the CLARITY Act remains in limbo. Until the Senate acts, the promise of immediate approval remains conditional on a process that has yet to move forward.
