This AI Token Is Building Momentum as Attention Shifts Back to AI Sector

For weeks, one AI token had been quietly building pressure beneath the surface. Chart structures were tightening. Open interest was creeping higher.

Then, in the span of 24 hours, it broke wide open. Bittensor’s TAO surged 12.3% to reach $264.98 on September 7, 2026.

The trigger traces back to a single announcement one day earlier: Bittensor’s expansion onto Robinhood Chain, powered by Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol.

The Expansion Behind the Spark

The Robinhood Chain integration opened a new distribution route for TAO, connecting it to liquidity pools and users it couldn’t reach before.

Trading volume responded fast, jumping to between $175 million and $200 million in the 24 hours following the news.

Binance, Coinbase, and KuCoin all saw heightened activity at once, spreading demand across multiple venues rather than concentrating it in one place.

Techgaged tracked TAO’s earlier fundamentals-driven breakout back in July, noting the token’s bullish technical setup tied to subnet expansion well before this latest catalyst hit.

What the Futures Market Confirms

Open interest in TAO futures climbed to roughly $433.67 million, up sharply from the $200 to $250 million range that held through most of July and August.

That figure rose in step with price, a pattern that usually signals fresh capital entering long positions rather than short sellers simply closing out.

Grayscale recently named Bittensor one of the most compelling decentralized AI networks in the market, institutional validation that tends to matter most once retail momentum is already building.

Seven Days That Turned Sharply

TAO enters this week at $266.60, up 15.7% as of September 7, 2026 (11:30 UTC).

Price sat near $218 to $220 through September 2 and 3, climbed to around $235 by September 4 and 5.

Then it broke sharply higher into the $260s by September 6. Bitcoin briefly testing $80,000 on September 6 gave the whole rally a supportive backdrop.

What’s Ahead

The Exploit Summit in Montreal, scheduled for September 28 and 29, is the next event traders will watch.

With open interest already elevated heading in, it could either extend this rally or test how much of it was leverage.
