Strategy is buying Bitcoin again. The company confirmed the purchase on August 31, 2026. It acquired 4,603 BTC for $370 million.
Strategy announced the details. USD Cash rose by $29 million. The company also repurchased $152 million of STRC shares.

The Numbers Behind the Buy
Strategy now holds 845,050 BTC. Total USD assets sit at $6.71 billion. Net leverage stands at 0.0%.
The company funded the purchase by selling shares. It sold 4,531,421 MSTR shares through its at-the-market program. That raised $602.8 million in net proceeds.
Bitcoin took $369.7 million of that total. STRC buybacks took $151.8 million. Preferred dividends took $50.7 million.
The rest went into the USD Cash account, according to Strategy’s 8-K filing with the SEC.
The Two-Month Pause That Just Ended
This is Strategy’s first purchase since June. The company paused buying entirely between June 29 and August 23. It spent that stretch selling instead.
Strategy sold 6,948 BTC during that window. The average sale price was around $62,250 per coin.
That move was designed to clean up the balance sheet. It also built a Digital Credit Capital Framework.
That framework authorized up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin sales for dividends and preferred stock buybacks.
Why Strategy Started Buying Again
The new coins cost an average of $80,318 each. That’s roughly 29% higher than the average sale price from the summer.
Strategy waited until MSTR stock recovered enough to make equity the cheaper funding option.
Michael Saylor posted “We’re Back” on X the Sunday before the announcement.
That kind of weekend post used to signal an incoming Monday purchase disclosure.
It had gone quiet all summer while Strategy sold Bitcoin instead of buying it.
Bitcoin’s Price This Week
Bitcoin traded at $77,855.71 as of September 1, 2026 (14:00 UTC). That’s down 1.4% over seven days.
The chart shows a rough week. Price climbed toward $80,500 around August 28.
It dropped sharply to near $77,000 by August 29. It has chopped between $77,000 and $79,000 since.

The purchase landed right in the middle of that volatility, not at a clean local bottom.
What This Signals Going Forward
Techgaged previously reported on the cost basis question hanging over Strategy’s stack, noting that the firm’s average purchase price sits close to current market levels rather than deep in profit.
Techgaged also flagged how critics like Peter Schiff have read Strategy’s balance sheet moves, arguing that leaning on debt and equity issuance to fund operations signals strain rather than strength.
A zero net leverage balance sheet paired with a fresh purchase is a stronger position than Strategy held in June.
Whether this marks the start of a sustained buying streak, or a single opportunistic purchase before more balance-sheet management, likely depends on whether MSTR’s share price holds up well enough to keep equity the cheapest funding option going into September.
