VanEck executive claims Jack Dorsey is Satoshi Nakamoto

The head of digital asset research at VanEck, Matthew Sigel has claimed that X Founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey is Satoshi Nakamoto.

In a long tweet on 18 February, Sigel gave details of why he thinks Jack Dorsey could be the long disputed Bitcoin creator.

He said there are a combination of technical parallels, circumstantial links, patterns (including timing), uncanny coincidences, motive and ability that makes him convinced that Dorsey could be Satoshi.

Satoshi’s identity

Satoshi Nakamoto is the fictitious creator of Bitcoin who went underground after launching the first digital currency.

There have been several theories about who he may be, and also several guesses and claims. One of the most prominent self-acclaimed Satoshi is Australian mathematician Craig Wright who has also come out to renounce his claims.

Although he tried to prove that he was the Bitcoin creator, there were several pieces of evidence proving that he wasn’t the one.

Now, the spotlight is on Dorsey who is currently the CEO of Square, a Bitcoin investment firm in the U.S.

Sigel disagrees that telling the world about Dorsey’s possibility of being Satoshi will harm Bitcoin or the community as some people think.

He added that if true, his theory should prepare Dorsey for details on his retirement, handing over and other details concerning his Bitcoin holdings.

He also invites others to analyze his claims.and bring forth more evidence that Dorsey is actually Satoshi.

“I hope this post attracts those more talented than I am who can analyze these patterns and strengthen, or refute, the argument. If Satoshi is meant to remain unknown, scrutiny will reveal that as well. I understand this view may provoke strong reactions, but I believe it’s a conversation worth having.”

The evidence

Right under Sigel’s tweet is another that contains details of the supposed evidence supporting the claim that Dorsey is Satoshi.

These include him being among the 1,300 confirmed cypherpunks in 1996, The first bitcoin transaction took place on Jack’s mom’s birthday, Satoshi’s last mined block was on Jack’s dad’s birthday etc.
