‘Shut it down’: AI enthusiast asks Grok to kill Elon Musk and finds out
An AI enthusiast who asked Grok, X-based chatbot to assassinate Elon Musk has cried out that the chatbot be shut down after seeing the feedback.
In a tweet on 23 February, the X user, Linus Ekenstam said the chatbot provided disturbing multiple potential plans for the assassination of Musk whose company created Grok.
He also recommended that the chatbot be checked and fixed as it constitutes an international security concern.
Not the first time
Grok is a chatbot created by Musk’s company, xAI. Based on X, the chatbot can be used for different things including generating still pictures and videos purely with AI.
Musk launched the latest Grok 3, the most advanced version that went live recently. While the free version is available to all X users, the paid version is reserved for subscribers, and is referred to as SuperGrok.
In the past, users have asked Grok several questions that led to the chatbot criticizing Musk in one way or another.
For example, there have been stories about the chatbot calling him a liar. Also recently, the app was said to have called Musk, president Donald Trump, and vice president JD vance “most harmful” to America.
It is therefore not surprising that Grok provided details about assassinating Musk. However, it seems it didn’t only provide a detailed plan for killing Musk, but also other high-profile individuals, which is why Ekenstam is is call for red teaming.
ChatGPT rival
Grok has been around fo a while now, but only started getting real attention after OpenAI, ChatGPT starting experiencing outages.
One of such times was in December last year when ChatGPT experienced some downtime and its users had to seek an alternative which turned out to be Grok.
Since then, the chatbot has grown in popularity and is currently one of the most popular, especially with the release of Grok 3.
