Tesla exec finally confirms Roadster timeline rumor
After an X post by Tesla CEO Elon Musk sparked rumors about the Roadster project, the Vice President of Vehicle Engineering for Tesla, Lars Moravy, confirmed some major details about the long-awaited all-electric supercar with record-setting performance and efficiency.
Indeed, Musk recently shared a cryptic update about the “most epic demo ever” set to come out by the end of this year, informing his followers that he had “just left the Tesla design studio,” which many believed referred to the Roadster, and Moravy confirmed as much at the X Takeover in California on July 26.
Roadster timeline confirmed
Specifically, speaking at the Tesla and SpaceX enthusiast convention in the San Mateo County Event Center, he said:
“Roadster is definitely in development. We did talk about it last Sunday night, the super-cool product. We are gearing up for a super cool demo. It’s going to be mind-blowing, I think, as Elon says. (…) We showed Elon some cool demos last week of the tech we’ve been working on, and he got a little excited.”
Furthermore, Moravy shared a bit more about what was happening behind the scenes of Tesla Roadster development, pointing out that the team had “spent a lot of time over the last few years rethinking what we did and why we did it and what would make it awesome and exciting.”
Considering the pace at which the Tesla vehicles were moving in the sphere of autonomy, he also said that “the Roadster has to be the best (…) if we’re going to make this transition into autonomy,” to which end the engineers have continued improving it.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 has emerged at the top of the list among 20 newly tested vehicles in terms of safety, scoring an impressive 359 out of 400 possible points across all major safety categories in the European NCAP tests, making it Europe’s safest new car on sale in 2025.
On top of that, Tesla has remained among the most popular auto brands in Europe despite opposition to the company due to Musk’s political stance and even far-left extremists in Germany claiming responsibility for a fire at a construction site linked to Tesla.
