Suffering from hair loss? Thanks to science, you can now regrow in 20 days

Hair loss is a problem that has confronted both men and women for generations, but a new research promises new hope for victims.

In a research paper published on 22 October, scientists explained details of how a simple serum was found to grow back lost hair in only 20 days.

The serum, when tested in the lab, succeeded in stimulating fat cells in the skin that regenerated hair follicles, and will soon be available for anyone to buy.

A groundbreaking solution

Hair loss is as old as man, and can be caused by factors such as old age, and heredity. Whatever is the cause, there has been no cure and the condition has been irreversible.

However with this new discovery, the story can soon be changed. The researchers say the serum can trigger hair recovery without skin irritation, making it a novel discovery indeed.

The study author at Taiwan University Professor Sung–Jan Lin claims to have even used an early version of the product on his legs with good outcomes.

While chemical irritants and injury have been found to also induce hair growth, the researchers wanted to see the effect of fatty acids on skin without the use of any chemical irritant.

Consequently, they created serums from different fatty acids dissolved in alcohol such as oleic acids and palmitoleic acids, which they found to promote hair regeneration when applied on the skin without irritants.

Commenting, Lin said:

‘Oleic acids and palmitoleic acids are naturally derived fatty acids. They are not only rich in our adipose tissues, but also in many plant oils, so they can be safely used.’

After testing the serum, the team has seen promising results both on hair follicles in the lab, as well as Lin’s thighs with no side effects.

Consequently, they have patented the serum and plan to test different dosages on people’s scalps before releasing it to the market.
