Porsche Cayenne Electric on the road

Porsche’s new Cayenne Electric challenges Tesla with 600-Mile Range

Porsche is set to launch the Cayenne Electric in a few weeks and it comes with some impressive features, including a high-voltage system.

The company in a press release on 23 October said the high-voltage system powers the car to deliver 600 miles with a single charge.

Based on the evolution of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed in-house, the all-electric Cayenne will be added to Porsche’s list of SUVs.

Delivering incredible results

The Cayenne Electric features a function-integrated battery, powerful dual cooling, intelligent thermal management and robust charging performance, that give rise to a new level of E-Performance.

With its 800-volt infrastructure, it offers impressive charging power, intelligent energy distribution and high efficiency, giving range figures that make the car suitable for everyday use and long-distance journeys.

Several journalists are said to have tested the prototype on a 563 kilometer drive to test its range, which was made possible through the combination of innovative technology and sophisticated energy management.

Dr Michael Steiner, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board, Research and Development said:

“With the Cayenne Electric, we are taking e-performance to a new level. Our innovative high-voltage system combines maximum efficiency with the driving dynamics typical of Porsche.”

Quite notably, the car has a function-integrated high-voltage battery with a gross energy content of 113 kWh directly integrated into its structure for energy storage and also as an integral structural component.

This integration increases the vehicle’s rigidity and further lowers its centre of gravity for the best driving dynamics and precision.

On par with Tesla

The Cayenne Electric with its 600km range challenges Teslas which are the leading electric car models in the world.

Although it was estimated using the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) which comes up with higher estimates, the Cayenne’s range is remarkably close to that of Tesla and an indication that future EVs can be even more powerful.
