Nokia enriches Wi-Fi 7 connectivity with Beacon 19 launch
Nokia has launched Beacon 19, the latest addition to its Wi-Fi 7 mesh gateway to boost the internet speed in homes.
The new Beacon 19 delivers internet connectivity 3x the speed of Wi-Fi 6 devices, a press release on October 2 reveals. With up to 19Gbps of Wi-Fi capacity, the new gateway will cater to the rising number of Wi-Fi 7 devices in homes across the globe.
Powered by Corteca
The new Beacon 19 is powered by Corteca, a software designed by Nokia to boost connectivity at home and in the cloud.
Corteca enables advanced Wi-Fi and device management, as well as offering a marketplace with applications that run on fiber (ONT) gateways, FWA gateways and mesh Wi-Fi beacons.
Being a tri-band device, Beacon 19 has high Wi-Fi capacity that allows users to seamlessly participate in activities such as online gaming and streaming without experiencing slow connections.
Also with support for multi-link operations (MLO), it enhances connection speeds by allowing devices to send and receive data across different frequency bands and channels.
Commenting on the new device, Justin Doucette, Head of Wi-Fi, Fixed Networks at Nokia, said:
“WiFi 7 is a pivotal new technology that will power the connected home of the future. The Beacon 19 Wi-Fi 7 gateway is designed to help service providers make sure multi-gigabit speeds reach every corner of the house. Combined with our Corteca software, built-in TR-369 support for management, and open framework, it makes managing devices in the home much simpler. This means providers can easily optimize Wi-Fi, offer new services, and ultimately give their customers a fast, reliable, and seamless broadband experience”
Spearheading better Wi-Fi connectivity
Nokia has engaged in rapid development of Wi-Fi connectivity recently. Following the launch of Beacon 19, Nokia Corteca has also introduced the first open standards for Wi-Fi management, including prpl LCM for home applications.
With full support for prpl lifecycle management (prpl LCM), users can monetize value-added applications in the broadband home, thus creating better in-home experiences for the end-user.
