The use of AI to find answers for everyday questions as well as business solutions is on the increase worldwide. Now, a new study has revealed information that could mean we should quit seeking answers from AI entirely.

The study conducted by ChaOn shows that Americans don’t trust the answers chatbots like Microsoft Pilot, ChatGPT and Grok provide.

Because of this, they still turn to regular search engines like Google and Bing to confirm the authenticity of answers they get.

AI Getting Popular with a Pinch of salt

The study confirms that the number of people using AI is on a steady increase. Most respondents indicated that they like to use AI but are not fully confident about it.

While a whopping 74% of respondents say they use AI for quick answers or to search for information, 39% are not confident and always turn to Google and other sources to verify the answers they get.

Another 39% reported receiving irrelevant answers, 36% say they received outdated information, 33% complained of contradictions, while another 19% complained of made up sources or references.

Moreover, users expressed concern about privacy when it comes to interaction with AI. More than half say they would rather not share personal details with chatbots.

Experts Support Skepticism

As much as AI can be helpful in some tasks, experts from American University in Washington D.C. among many others have warned that they must not be trusted wholly because they learn from humans.

This has proven to be true in real life, as is seen in the AI Overviews that Google introduced to help summarize answers.

The feature has faced lots of criticism from users, many of which found a way to turn it off due to the inaccurate information it provides.
