In a news release on 11 June, the company said the generative AI video editing feature will be available in the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, and the Edits app.

Customizing videos made easy

The new video editing feature enables users to easily edit short-form videos using a variety of preset AI prompts that can transform their outfit, location, style and more.

Meta says the feature is just the initial step towards bringing AI video generation and editing to its users across its apps and products, as it was inspired by the Movie Gen models.

There are plans to enable the editing of videos using text prompts to make video edits exactly as users imagine them.

The feature is for everyone regardless of their tech knowledge. It is intuitive and easy to use, making it possible for anyone to make high-quality video edits.

How it works

To use the video editing feature, users need to upload a video to the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website or Edits app.

They can then choose from more than 50 editing prompts they can use to transform 10 seconds of any video for free for a limited time.

With a preset prompt selected, Meta AI will edit the video to match the selected scenario. Among other things, users can alter lighting, add effects such as blur, or even turn the video to a video game.

Once done, they can share the edited videos directly to Facebook and Instagram or to the Discover feed through the Meta AI app and Meta.AI web.

The feature is currently available in  the US and more than a dozen other countries around the world with more to come.
