Macan EV surges to 60% of Porsche’s electrified sales

As the automobile industry takes a stronger turn toward electric vehicles (EVs), Macan EV has surged to account for 60% of Porsche sales in the first half of 2025, during which the luxury carmaker has delivered over 145,000 vehicles to customers worldwide.

Macan EV dominates Porsche sales

Specifically, this accounts for nearly 60% of the total number of Macans (all variants, combustion-engined included) sold by the vehicle manufacturer, which has reached 45,137 in the first half of 2025. In the words of Matthias Becker, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG:

“The fully electric Macan is making a significant contribution to our proportion of electrified cars. (…) Overall, we have succeeded in keeping sales volumes stable and balanced across the sales regions despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. Our customers continue to place great value on individualized vehicles and we will continue to expand our offerings in this area.”

Macan itself has recorded the strongest sales growth among Porsche’s six model lines, with a 15% increase compared to the previous year. The next-best performer was the Panamera, with a 13% increase. The largest sales region is again North America, with 43,577 deliveries of Porsche cars, an increase of 10% from last year.

Meanwhile, Porsche has embraced machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) for data analysis to help it make sense of large amounts of information for designing complex high-voltage car batteries and building systems to better serve the carmaker’s customers.

The company has also developed a new AC battery for EVs that brings various components, such as a high-voltage battery with the battery management system, power electronics for controlling the electric motor, and an onboard charger, into one simple yet comprehensive platform.

Recently, Porsche has displayed the camouflaged prototype of its second all-electric SUV, Cayenne Electric, on a record-gathering mission during which it offered a glimpse of its high levels of everyday usability, long-distance comfort, and off-road sustainability.
