Leak hints at launch date for Samsung tri-fold
With the launch of the Samsung tri-fold coming sometime this year, speculations have been abound as to when exactly this might happen, and a recent leak has suggested a possible launch month for the breakthrough product.
Specifically, Samsung’s first triple-screen foldable might be launching in October, judging by the claims from a long-time leaker known online as Ice Universe, who said on Weibo that this device will arrive in October, a month after Huawei’s second-generation Mate XT.

Earlier, Samsung’s mobile chief TM Roth announced the company’s plans to launch its first triple-screen foldable phone by the end of this year, although now it seems that the device – reportedly restricted to Korea and China like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition – is coming a lot sooner.
What we know about Samsung tri-fold so far
According to a previous leak, it will feature Qualcomm’s current flagship SoC – the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 10-inch folding OLED display screen, and the same rear camera system as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – 200MP main, 10MP 3x tele, and 12MP ultrawide.
Furthermore, the tri-fold will reportedly have a smaller battery than the competing Huawei Mate XT (5,600 mAh), and Samsung’s competitor is also said to be working on an upgrade to make its product more durable and efficient. This leaker offered September as the month in which Samsung will begin production of tri-fold phones.
In terms of other details, official animation files showing the new tri-foldable phone – potentially called the Galaxy G Fold – suggest that it might have a G-shaped design with two inward-folding hinges, compared to Huawei’s one inward-folding hinge and one outward-folding hinge.
Additionally, Samsung’s design will enable a separate cover display, while its competitor’s approach focuses on using part of the folding screen as a cover display. Meanwhile, Samsung Display will start manufacturing OLED panels for the tri-fold in August, in line with Samsung Mobile’s production plan.
