Ever thought of cars with in-built Xbox? LG has made it possible
LG is bringing Xbox gaming to cars, allowing car owners to play games on the go in their vehicles while in motion.
According to a press release by LG on 9 September, the company said it is strengthening its position in the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) era with its webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP) by transforming vehicles into dynamic software-driven experience hubs.
A new era in gaming
LG revealed at IAA MOBILITY 2025, held in Munich, Germany, that it was entering a partnership with Microsoft to bring Xbox gaming to supported vehicles.
The company emphasized the need for in-vehicle gaming entertainment, hence the partnership. Commenting, Eun Seok-hyun, president of the LG Vehicle Solution Company.
“Leveraging nearly 70 years of customer experience expertise in home appliances and IT, LG has a unique competitive edge to redefine the vehicle from a simple means of transportation into a living space centered on the user experience. We aim to supply our webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030 while continuously expanding our content and service ecosystem.”
Through the partnership, Xbox will soon be integrated into LG ACP, allowing customers with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, a compatible Bluetooth controller and supported internet access, to access and play hundreds of games.
The game collection will include popular titles such as Doom: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5 directly built into the vehicle’s infotainment system via cloud gaming.
Beyond entertainment
LG is taking its vehicle ecosystem to another level by integrating online meeting platform Zoom to its ACP as well.
By partnering with Zoom, a native Zoom app is added to the ACP, thus transforming vehicles into mobile collaboration spaces.
Drivers and passengers will be able to conduct meetings and manage work efficiently across multiple vehicle models.
LG’s webOS already powers over 240 million smart TVs worldwide, and the company is bringing the same intuitive user experience to vehicles.
