Elon Musk unveils bold vision for Tesla Optimus at Supercharger Diner
Shortly after the first Tesla Supercharger Diner officially opened its door to the public in Los Angeles, Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased on X that the company’s humanoid robot, Tesla Optimus, could soon be getting a job there – bringing you your food.
As it happens, Optimus was, indeed, serving popcorn at the Diner during the opening, but it seems like that’s its only job until 2026, when it could get a promotion to a food runner, bringing your order straight to your car, according to Musk’s now deleted post on X from July 23.

Optimus in a 50s diner uniform?
As the Tesla CEO added in the comments below the post showing a waitress on roller skates and in a typical retro diner uniform serving food to customers in a car side by side with Tesla Optimus (on roller skates too) doing the same thing, “We could put Optimus in a cute outfit too.”

Although Elon has later deleted the post, so we can’t tell whether he was joking or not, and the joke just went too far, it would be an interesting way to combine the experience of a full-fledged 1950s drive-in diner with a futuristic twist – and would certainly attract visitors.
As a reminder, the first Tesla SuperCharger Diner opened on July 21, after Musk confirmed the wild features awaiting at the deluxe Tesla charging station-meets-restaurant, including the ability to order food from your Tesla vehicle’s interface as you listen to the audio from the massive screen in the same menu system.
Previously, Musk announced the company’s “most epic demo ever,” which many believe refers to Optimus V3, the latest evolution of Tesla’s humanoid robot, including crypto entrepreneur Mario Nawfal, who opined that “Tesla’s robot butler era” had begun.
