A Chinese crypto mining mogul has allegedly lost millions of dollars in mining revenue as cats invaded his farm. The farm allegedly located in the cold mountains of Mongolia attracted the cats seeking warmth, whose presence reduced the farm’s mining capacity.

According to a Facebook post, at least two hundred cats invaded the farm and turned it into their home.
However, the story has been debunked as false, with the information probably intended only a satire and not a real story.
Cats Kill Hashrate as GPUs Turn to Beds
The cats in their hundreds invaded the mining farm in search of warmth. This is expected as miners give off a lot of heat, making the facility an ideal home in the cold of Mongolia.

Unfortunately by turning the miners to warm beds, they managed to reduce the hashrates of the machines, thus reducing their capacity to mine.
Workers at the mining facility say the owner eventually bought heating mats for the 200 cats and provided comfortable accommodation for them, being a cat lover himself.
With that measure in place, the facility got its mining power back and the cats eventually returned home to their owners.
Crypto Mining Not All Bad Afterall
Crypto and especially crypto mining has been painted in a very bad light since Bitcoin started requiring significant power to mine.
Regulators have argued for years that the process is harmful to the energy infrastructure and environment.
The cat incident however proves that there could be at least one positive impact of crypto mining — keeping our furry little friends warm.
