According to the update release on 2 December, the browser has also received major updates that fixed 13 security issues for Windows, MacOS and Linux in addition to the ability to convert web text to speech as one of the new features in the new Chrome 143.

Google Makes Chrome Use Easier with Read-Out Loud

Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers among internet users. Google has integrated several exciting features in the browser such as Gemini, an AI assistant that lets users ask questions about web pages and get summaries as well as compare multiple apps. The read-out loud feature however takes the experience to a whole new level.

With the feature, users can now multitask while using the browser, all they have to do is activate reading mode on the browser. To do that, they have to right-click and select “Open in reading mode,” which opens on the sidebar. They can also adjust their read-out loud feature using options such as Play, Voice speed, Voice selection, and Voice highlight right at the top of the pane.

In addition to the read-out loud feature, Google has also brought more AI features to Chrome, including AI Mode directly into Google Search, accessible through the address bar and the New Tab page. Chrome now has Gemini in Chrome, an AI support assistant that helps users summarize text, explain concepts, and answer questions.

The Gemini support feature will be available to Windows and Mac users who use English as their default language in the US with more languages to be added gradually.

Chrome Upgrade Boosts Security

Chrome is a popular web browser but like any other technology, it has its own issues. The recent upgrade has brought fixes to several security and vulnerability issues, some of which have been exploited by bad actors to attack users.

With more AI features on the way, Chrome is likely to become a more popular choice for internet users in the future. No wonder the new ChatGPT browser will not be replacing it any time soon.
