Bi-directional Quasar 2 pre-orders begin: A smarter charge for Kia EV9 owners
As electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure continues to evolve, charging our cars is becoming increasingly easier and faster, and it’s about to become even better for eligible Kia EV9 owners and lessees, courtesy of Wallbox’s new bi-directional Quasar 2 charger.
Indeed, Wallbox has just opened pre-orders for its newest bi-directional charger for Kia EV9 owners and lessees in jurisdictions that allow installation of bi-directional charging or don’t require special permits or approvals beforehand, the EV charging solutions provider stated on March 4.

Specifically, Quasar 2 is a next-generation bi-directional DC charger that, together with the Wallbox Power Recovery Unit, allows Kia EV9 owners to provide power to areas of their homes, even during blackouts. In other words, they can use their vehicle as a power source, and the PRU can provide backup power for up to three days.
The charger’s features include up to 12 kW of power for fast EV charging and discharging, compact and lightweight design for easy installation, Backup Power in case of a power outage, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality to power areas of the home, as well as the elective solar charging option.
Commenting on the start of pre-orders for Quasar 2, Enric Asunción, the CEO of Wallbox, said:
“This cutting-edge technology allows eligible EV9 owners and lessees to take control of their energy consumption and costs, and provides the possibility of power backup during electrical outages.”
Meanwhile, Kia has made strides toward cutting EV charging costs for its customers thanks to the new Smart Charging feature, which it plans to roll out as part of Hyundai Motor Group’s global initiative toward expanding the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) services.
Elsewhere, the automotive behemoth has revealed its B-segment Concept EV2 SUV model featuring suicide doors and bench seats, alongside the EV4 as its first electrified sedan (four-door) and hatchback (five-door), completing its EV lineup, at the brand’s recent EV event in Spain.
