Adobe rolls out AI video creation capabilities with new Firefly app
Adobe has released its new Firefly app with support for AI video creation, thanks to a new video model.
In a press release on 12 February, the creative content platform said the new Firefly Video Model, which is the industry’s first commercially safe AI video generation model, powers Generate Video (beta) in the Firefly application.
It also powers Generative Extend (beta) in Adobe Premiere Pro, and generates IP-friendly video content that can be used in production today.
Brand new ideas
The Firefly app is Adobe’s all-in-one professional platform for generating ideas and creating content such as images and now videos using top Creative Cloud applications.
This new version introduces Firefly Standard and Firefly Pro, with a suite of professional grade controls, enabling users to seamlessly do their work from ideation to production.
The app also integrates with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Express and more.
With Generate Video (beta), users can generate video clips from a text prompt or image, using camera angles to control shots.
They can also create professional-quality images from 3D sketches, craft atmospheric elements and develop custom motion design elements.
Commenting on the new release, David Wadhwani, president of Adobe’s digital media business said:
“Firefly is designed for creative professionals looking for unmatched creative control and IP-friendly tools that can be used safely and effectively in both ideation and production. We’ve been thrilled to hear from beta customers who’ve found it a game-changer for ideating concepts and producing stunning videos, and we can’t wait to see how the creative community uses it to bring their stories to the world.”
Responsible AI adoption
At the heart of these new features that Firefly is offering is the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
As Adobe continues to leverage the technology to develop better generative AI tools to serve users better, the company says it remains committed to using the technology responsibly, guided by its AI ethics.
