According to a press release on December 18th, the car will be the first in the world to launch with PlayStation Remote Play as an in-car entertainment feature, allowing players to remotely stream PlayStation games from their PlayStation5 (PS5) or PlayStation4 (PS4) consoles.

With it, users can remotely access and control their PS4 or PS5 consoles at home directly from the car’s interface using the AFEELA In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system with its integrated display and premium audio system.

Sony and Honda Revolutionize In-Car Entertainment

Entertainment in cars has evolved over the years, with new features being added and old ones being replaced with more advanced ones. Through Sony’s business venture with Honda, a new touch is being given to the first car they are producing jointly.

The integration redefines what it means to enjoy gaming on the go by bringing one of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s most popular applications into AFEELA. Car owners can enjoy gaming whether they are waiting in their parked car or entertain their passengers on a road trip. Izumi Kawanishi, Representative Director, President and COO, Sony Honda Mobility Inc. said:

“The introduction of PS Remote Play embodies AFEELA’s vision for mobility: transforming the traveling space into a captivating and emotional one. Through this integration, we are elevating the customer’s entire travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment.”

According to SHM, AFEELA combines intelligence with emotions, bringing to life a next-generation driving experience built on advanced sensing, interactive technology, and human-centered design. The car is scheduled for deliveries in California in 2026

A Growing Trend of Gaming in Cars

With the launch of PlayStation Remote in AFEELA, SHM is the first car maker to introduce such entertainment in a car, but it isn’t the first to bring gaming to cars. LG had in September introduced Xbox gaming into cars, allowing car owners to play games on the go.

However unlike the AFEELA feature, it is not remote but instead is physically built into the entertainment system via the LG webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP).
