Robot Bartender ADAM Wows Fans at Vegas Golden Knights Game

In Brief

  • • ADAM, a robotic bartender, has impressed fans by serving drinks at Vegas Golden Knights Game.
  • • The robot was trained through high-fidelity simulation and synthetic data to serve drinks.
  • • Its debut highlights a broader push toward advanced robotics in hospitality and industrial automation.

Robots are becoming more sophisticated with improvement in their development to make them more competent in everyday tasks. One of such robots known as ADAM was at the Golden Knights Game in Las Vegas mixing and serving drinks to the amazement of fans.

According to Nvidia, the robot was developed by Las-Vegas based Richtech Robotics using NVIDIA Isaac libraries as a real-world solution to labor challenges in hospitality. ADAM (Automated Dual Arm Mixologist) is the first of its kind to be created that can independently mix and serve drinks with a demonstration of so much dexterity and control.

Complementing Hospitality Labor with ADAM

Robots have been created with the ability to do many things over the years, such as home deliveries and playing Badminton. ADAM was created to fill the labor gap in the hospitality industry, which president of Richtech Robotics Matt Casella says faces severe shortage.

“The hospitality industry faces significant labor challenges, and ADAM is our answer to meeting those needs while elevating the customer experience. With NVIDIA’s Isaac platform, we’ve developed a solution that’s scalable, consistent, and frankly, creates memorable moments for fans. The response at T-Mobile Arena has been phenomenal—people love interacting with ADAM.”

The robot was trained in a virtual bar using NVIDIA Isaac Sim, an open-source, reference robotic simulation framework, to build a high-fidelity and physically accurate simulation of ADAM’s workstation. This came complete with cups, utensils and lighting variations to prepare him for a real-world scenario where he will serve drinks.

The team also trained ADAM on how to recognize objects even in tricky conditions like glare or reflection using generated synthetic data, and refined his pouring and shaking skills in simulation using NVIDIA’s open source robot learning framework Isaac Lab. With this elaborate training, ADAM doesn’t just follow instructions but adapts to the environment with precision as a competent bartender.

ADAM represents a Breakthrough in Robotics

The development of robots has been slow and while progress is being made in making them more suitable for everyday use, not many have attained the level of dexterity and control that ADAM has.

Beyond ADAM, Richtech Robotics continues to make progress in industrial automation with Dex, a new mobile humanoid robot built for factory and warehouse environments. Built with the precision of dual-arm dexterity, Dex is designed to handle light-to-medium industrial tasks like machine operation, parts sorting, material handling and packaging.
