Porsche Integration Makes Samsung Wallet Your Car Key

Samsung Wallet is a popular choice for payments in many countries, but it just found a brand new use case. The company has entered a partnership with German automaker Porsche to make the wallet a remote key for some of its cars.

Samsung in an announcement on 9 December said its wallet now supports Digital Key access for select Porsche vehicles, starting with the Porsche Macan (MY26). The support will expand to more models including the Cayenne Electric next year, allowing users to lock, unlock and start their Porsche vehicles using a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Porsche Offers Streamlined Driving Experience

Porsche is known for its luxury cars and is one of the leading brands in the world in technological innovation. Partnering with Samsung to enable the use of its wallet for remote car control is therefore one of its many innovative achievements to give users a streamline experience.

Samsung Wallet now offers users an intuitive, secure and unified interface through which they can seamlessly access and control their Porsche vehicles. Through this one interface, Samsung Galaxy users can access their ID cards, payment methods, and keys, all without having to manage multiple apps on their devices. This both increases security and convenience for those using the technology.

Porsche Digital Keys are protected by EAL6+ grade security certification, which is remarkable. This is a high-level security certification under the Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408). It offers robust, specialized security for high-value assets, keeping the Porsche keys securely embedded on the device. The technology also helps to safeguard against unauthorized access, and users can share and revoke access to the keys.

Porsche Digital Key Adds to Auto Innovation

Porsche is a German automaker known for its many innovations that set its vehicles apart. The company this year adopted the use of AI for making high-voltage car batteries. The AI is to be used for data analysis of complex systems to determine how best to make batteries that are least impacted by external factors.
