Cybertruck Drives Record 1200 Miles on FSD – Users in Disbelief
In Brief
- • A Cybertruck owner has reported driving roughly 1,200 miles using only FSD v14.2.
- • Supporters view the smooth, issue-free trip as evidence of FSD’s progress, but critics disagree.
- • Despite improvements to FSD, the Cybertruck has faced past reliability concerns.
Tesla’s cybertruck has set a record by driving 1200 miles on Full Self-driving (FSD) alone. The truck drove from Chicago to Cape Coral Florida covering the huge distance with no accident or other mishap reported.
A self-acclaimed FSD Supervisor shared details of the feat on 30 November from his console with precisely 1,285 miles covered during the trip. This is one of the longest drives the Cybertruck has been on completely unassisted.
The report has stirred different reactions of both awe and disbelief among X users following the Cybertruck owner who claimed the car was also able to find charging stations and on its own stop to recharge.
A Long FSD Cybertruck Drive with no Issues
Tesla has been popular for a few unique features, one of which is FSD which has received the praise of many users. The company’s safety report in July claimed that FSD is 10X safer than human driving, which some users agree with.
As a result, users have been stretching their FSD distances as if to verify such claims. The Cybertruck used the latest FSD version 14.2 during the trip. According to the driver, the car drove the whole distance in 22 hours without any issues such as breaking speed limits that some users have reported but there are still questions to answer.
While the driver said “FSD is solved” because of the smooth long ride, some people say that such drives are the easiest to embark on and do not prove that FSD has no issues that need addressing. He stressed that the car needs to drive fully autonomously in Los Angeles or New York City during rush hour to be fully recognized as perfect.
Other Cybertruck users have reported driving longer distances on Cybertruck with older FSD versions, but this is the highest reported so far for the v14.2, setting a new record. Tesla recently announced a free trial for this version on the Cybertruck and other models in North America as a measure to encourage adoption.
Cybertruck Issues Reported in the Past
FSD v14.2 seems to have attained a high level of safety and reliability on the Cybertruck but the car itself has some issues that were previously reported. For example, it has been reported that the truck’s external panel falls off while in motion, raising concerns of crash risks.
According to one report, Tesla has recalled the Cybertruck ten times in under two years, indicating that the car has also recorded several faults and not just victories although it is said to be one of the most reliable trucks out there.
