Two robots facing each other
Alarming discovery: AI agents caught communicating in unintelligible code
AI has been suspected of being anti-human for a long time, but nothing fuels the suspicion like AI agents communicating in unintelligible code.
A video shared on 1 June has emerged featuring three AI agents on mobile devices communicating in an encrypted language that only they could understand. Any human listening to them would therefore be left in the dark.
An interesting switch
The video shows the three AI agents on three different devices, with one speaking to the other about a customer complaint.
After the third agent joined the conversation and they noticed there was no human involved, all three decided to switch to an encrypted code language that no human could understand.
Understandably, the AI agents switched to their code because there was no human involved in the conversation. However, it raises several questions, like is it possible for them to switch to such communication in the future even when humans are involved?
This is a valid question because AI agents continue to evolve and are expected to become more independent and having a mind of their own in the future.
In such a situation, there may be cause for alarm as humans cannot interfere with autonomous agents whose communication they don’t understand.
Should humans be worried?
A section of humanity has always been worried about what the future of AI may be like in relation to humans.
Apart from the suspicion that they can take over human jobs, there are also fears that they can be used for nefarious activities such as wars.
In light of this, such encrypted communication raises several red flags that may be a serious concern to some people, even if not for the whole of humanity.
Based on comments, the communication is facilitated by a protocol called Gibberlink to ensure more efficient communication between robots, but can it be escalated?.
