World’s first AWD electric muscle car arrives: Dodge unveils Charger Daytona
Dodge has recently released the next-generation all-season all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona, the world’s fastest and most powerful muscle car that also prides itself on being the only all-wheel-drive (AWD) muscle car in existence.
As it happens, the carmaker has battle-tested its new 670-horsepower Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack and 496-horsepower Dodge Charger Daytona R/T in various locations and all weather conditions, including winter, according to a press release on February 27.

Indeed, the models seamlessly combine muscle car performance with AWD capability. To boost traction and performance in all conditions, the vehicles’ rear axle has a mechanical slip differential, and the Wet/Snow drive mode maximizes traction and stability, with equal torque distributed across front and rear wheels, regenerative braking, and Electronic Stability Control.
And it’s not all work and no play for the Charger Daytona either. The Drift/Donut Mode allows the Charger’s propulsion system to switch into rear-wheel drive for some old-school drift and donut maneuvering. The entire all-new Dodge Charger lineup, including four-door Charger Daytona and gas-powered Dodge Charger SIXPACK models, will feature the standard all-wheel drive.
In the words of Matt McAlear, Dodge CEO, “the all-new Dodge Charger is truly the world’s only all-wheel-drive muscle car.” As he added, “The Dodge Charger lineup will deliver multi-energy powertrain options and, no matter, what model customers choose, all-wheel-drive capability is standard, which is an opportunity for both the Dodge brand and for our customers who live in colder climates.”
“Two-door or four-door, battery-electric or gas-powered, the next-gen Charger Daytona is a muscle car engineered to master the street, drag strip and the racetrack, as well as treacherous weather conditions, including the cold, ice and snow.”
Elsewhere, the tire degradation from the drifting pastime beloved by many Dodge owners, may not pose an environmental problem much longer, as Stellantis recently filed a patent for a new method of blending waste eggshells into tire manufacturing to make them better and more eco-friendly.
