OpenAI rolls out Tasks beta for Plus, Pro, and Teams users; Summary
Open AI has rolled out the beta for Tasks, a new feature that lets users make ChatGPT carry out tasks in the feature.
In an X thread on 14 January, the ChatGPT parent company outlined what this feature can be used for, including one-time reminders and recurring actions.
The feature will eventually become available to all ChatGPT users with an account soon, before the final launch for public use.
How to use it
Tasks is a new feature that allows ChatGPT users to assign tasks to it against the future. Users can get the chatbot to remind them of important dates or even carry out recurring tasks automatically.
To use the feature, you can go to the Tasks page under Profile, or simply type in the chat. Simply type in the task you want ChatGPT to help you with, and give as much details as possible for the best results.
In the process of setting up tasks, ChatGPT may help by suggesting frequent tasks based on your search history.
However, it is only possible to schedule up to 10 active tasks at a time, which is a limitation that users are complaining about.
Apparently, the feature and indeed, ChatGPT as a whole is still being improved, so certain complaints may come up especially because Tasks is still in testing.
First feature in 2025
OpenAI brought several improvements to ChatGPT in 2024, giving it new features and upgrades to make it more efficient and user-friendly.
The most notable ones include ChatGPT search, which allows users to search the web in a way that rivals Google Chrome and other top web browsers.
In 2025, Tasks is the first new feature update the company has rolled out, and more are probably on the way as we go into the year.
